Host family" is a family who has agreed with a young foreign student to house her in their home for a previously determined period of time. The Au Pair takes care of the children and helps with light domestic tasks. In return, the family provides lodging and boarding, treats her as a member of the family, allows her to attend language classes and pay weekly pocket money.
